Please forgive us — we’ve been incredibly busy getting I Am Moving, I Am Learning 2.0 ready, so we have missed a few Friday 5s!

But, we’re ba-ack!

Friday Five –> Pronunciation: Fri•day ’fiv –> Function: Noun

Definition: Sampling of articles and blog posts that caught our eye that will be of interest to Head Start, parent and early childhood education communities.

This week’s Friday 5:

  1. New York Magazine gives us the great article, Playgrounds Gone Wild.
  2. Check out this great idea for a community play day, inspired by the Second Sunday movement in Columbia.
  3. Check out @kaboom for ideas on how to host a Play Day in your community!
  4. Parents — think ahead and help advocate in your state! Check out this article from Forbes: Why Your Kids Need Recess.
  5. And lastly, some great nature play ideas for preschoolers from TBSB blogger, the amazing and inspiring Jenny.

Did anything catch your eye this week?  We would love to know about it — so share it in the comments section.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Make some extra time to get outside and play!  :-)   Bethe

We hosted a simple neighborhood Play Day last year and it was so much fun. I think we’ll be pressured into doing it again this year.

I don’t know how Jenny keeps coming up with those great posts! They are so imaginative.

I’ll have to read the articles. Thanks so much for highlighting.

Thanks, Michele — there is so much great work going on in the world of play. It’s nice to have a lot more than five stories to pick from. :-)

Yes, I recall you Play Day from last year — hope you do it again!

:-)
