Friday Five –> Pronunciation:Fri•day ’fiv –> Function: Noun

Definition: Sampling of articles and blog posts that caught our eye that will be of interest to Head Start, parent and early childhood education communities.

This week’s Friday 5:

  1. Play is such an important topic, even the Wall Street Journal is chiming in.

  2. NPR explores how the Impact of Childhood Obesity Goes Beyond Health.

  3. Get outside & move! Download the Nature Explore Families’ Club Kit for free from the great folks at the Arbor Day Foundation.

  4. TBSB blogger Jenny  is talking dirty this week! ;-)

  5. Juliet @creativestar inspires us to take Circle Time outside this school year.

OK, that should be enough to keep you busy for a bit!

Did anything catch your eye this week? We would love to know about it — so share it in the comments section.

Oooh, thank you – I see my name there :) I love the Friday 5: my favoriet thing to do is hunt around for great links to inspire me.

Thanks very much for mentioning my Outdoor Circle Time blog. I had a very encouraging response on the Times Educational Supplement (TES) forum. This is the biggest UK education forum and I asked teachers for their thoughts about taking children outside on their first day back. There were lots of big enthusiastic “Yes” s!

It’s a slow burn but we’re getting there. The outdoor revolution is happening. By stealth more than anything!
