“Necessity may be the mother of invention, but play is certainly
the father.” ~ Roger Von Oech
Let’s face it — sometimes even the most creative of us hit a wall. Luckily for early childhood educators, caregivers and parents there is a great go-to resource to help spur your imagination when it comes to play-based learning ideas for the children in your world: Playopedia.
Christie over at the terrific site Childhood 101 has put together and amazing database of play-based learning activities and experiences and aptly named it, Playopedia.
You’ll find everything from movement and outdoor play ideas to literacy and art-based ideas — and everything in between. Try a quick search with terms like nature or music – you will be tickled with the ideas and photos that pop-up.
Plus, you can submit your own ideas and help inspire others world-wide. It’s amazing how small the internet has truly made the world feel. We have the capacity to learn together across the globe with a simple click of the mouse. And perhaps more importantly, we can create supportive communities to cheer each other on.
Whether you are a preschool teacher, parent, grandparent or caregiver, Playopedia will have just what you are looking for — whether or not you even know what you are looking for!
Play on! ~ Bethe
